SEPTEMBER 2011

VERY TEMPORARY WILL BE FUNCTIONING AS ET AL., ETC. (AS OF SEPTEMBER 2011).

If you have a project you would like to show in Tokyo, please contact us there. Our same goals
for Very Temporary (+/- the take/giveaway) apply and we are still committed to offering our time
here as a resource and supporting the work of young cultural producers who may not have
the opportunity to show in Tokyo. We will help you find a venue for your ideas.

Watch for a Table of Contents NYC show that we are working toward for September along with a
show at the ET AL., ETC. studio of the work of Ai Oe called Hyakku En (100 Yen).

Special thanks to Andres Monzon, Yoko Tashiro and Ryoichi Ohara for their unwavering support
of Very Temporary.

Only sort of RIP ....

ALEX GRIFFITH, ALLIE PISARRO-GRANT, ANDRÉS MONZÓN, MARIA SALAS, and SEAN MONAHAN
in an edition of 50 per artist. Specs here.

Curator's Statement:
"Culture is not created; it is merely transformed consciously or subconsciously through the recapitulation of events from the past. An artist must be aware of their position in relation to this transformation. This requires an active involvement with the past and a canalization of the resulting experience through their production. The artists included in Not in Vain are individuals who are observers of culture, of the sort who create poetic reflections on established histories. The works included exemplify this process. ..."
[...]” (full statement)
